We made it back to crisp and cool SeaTac Airport, still wearing shorts and sandals last week. We froze all the way to my parent's house but quickly felt warmed by their presence. Originally, we were supposed to return at the end of April when our tenant's lease ends and then we could move back into our home on May 1. But while experiencing some travel fatigue in Tulum, Mexico, our dear friends sensed it and kindly reached out and offered up their home to us while they would be out of town. It only took our whole family about a minute to reply with the answer "YES" to their more than generous offer.
So now we are sitting comfortably in our friends' home one mile away from our house. We have never been so excited to run errands and drive around our town. I hadn't been behind the wheel in seven months and I proved to Austin that I didn't forget how to drive! He had insisted that I take a practice lap around my parent's neighborhood before he got in the car with me. I assured him that driving is just like riding a bike—you don't forget!
To our surprise, not much has changed around town and luckily we haven't noticed any permanent closures of businesses. We were surprised that we haven't once been squirted with hand sanitizer or had our temperature taken while entering any establishments. In Mexico, you couldn't enter a single place without passing through a curtain of COVID precautions.
These extra few weeks will give us some undistracted time to take care of some business before life gets crazy moving back into our home. We have some exciting events in the next couple of months to prepare for. : )
It sure does feel good to be home!
Our beautiful Pacific Northwest view.
Welcome Home!!!!
