Day 21 - Resting in Rovinj

After a long, but scenic 5-hour drive from Zadar, we have arrived in the coastal town of Rovinj, Croatia. A place referred to us by friends at home who spent their vacations here while growing up in Italy. We have 4-nights booked, but all of us had the same thought of extending our stay as soon as we walked into our Airbnb. It would be nice to be in a place more than a few days.

The weather turned overnight (about 67° instead of 84°) and fall is in the air. There was the loudest and brightest thunderstorm last night that kept us all up. Our new cozy Airbnb feels like a good place to hunker down for awhile and make some soup! There is no living area but the spacious bedrooms make up for it. Austin is thrilled that there is a Playstation here.

Our original route here was by ferry, but due to severe thunderstorms, the ferry was canceled. We asked our Uber driver who took us to Queen's Beach yesterday if she would be interested in driving us on the long journey and she said "definitely." Thank goodness! I was so relieved for our only other option was an 8-hr bus ride with one 30-minute transfer stop. Normally, I wouldn't shun the bus option, but due to Covid, they are not allowing passengers to use the bathroom, no matter if it's a longer route. Don't ask me how the bus drivers can hold it in!! My bladder cannot handle that and I would have to not drink one droplet of water for 5 hours before departure to MAYBE make it through the journey!

Our driver, Sanja, was so kind and sweet. We learn so much about Croatian life from our Uber drivers! The time flew by quickly and we were able to make two pitstops. It was definitely worth the extra $50 to have bathroom stops and arrive in Rovinj three hours earlier!

Clint's lentil soup was delicious! Our first homecooked meal besides melted cheese on bread.
