We are bummed out today because our time in Spain has abruptly ended. Today marked a pivotal day in the lockdown. The government was deciding to either end the regional travel ban or impose tighter restrictions. They chose to batten down the hatches and continue banning travel to and from the city and announced that all non-essential businesses be shut down beginning tomorrow in Granada.
After mulling it over all morning, we decided it's probably better to rip the Bandaid off and leave Spain before their restrictions worsen. We had hoped to extend our stay in Granada a few more days (we love it here so much!!) before heading to Spain's southern coast. The kids were gaining their stride with their Spanish and we felt so comfortable here. We thoroughly enjoyed our lazy mornings, sunny mountain views, the tapas and visiting with our new friends, Beth and Hassan. Luckily, we had one last night out with them tonight over a traditional tapas and wine dinner.
We are very sad to leave, but not one day goes by that we are not thankful for the opportunity to be here. Every day spent in Europe is considered bonus time for we didn't even think we would get in!
Now it's time to start packing. We catch an early flight to Lisbon, Portugal in the morning!
Luckily, we made time to paint the Alhambra seen from our window before we left.
So happy to read you are taking all the precautions you are. Be safe and keep these amazing memos coming as your family will be the ones who benefit most of all many years from now.
We might be able to come back if we can do it before the end of the year. We are allowed to be in the EU for 90 days.
It sounds like you guys made a smart decision to leave Spain! Maybe you can come back at a later time while in Europe? I love seeing your artwork! What a beautiful view to behold daily! Happy trails to you and let us know where you landed. Love and miss you all xoxo
