Day 92 - Dunes

Updated: Dec 9, 2020

What do you get when you scramble the word Dunes? ... Nudes!!!

We sure got our share of them today when we ventured out of our resort's gates to the Maspalomas Dunes Natural Reserve. The dunes were a 20-minute walk from our hotel along a popular sandy beach. The beach was dotted with sunbathers, families playing ball, surfers and swimmers—a typical day at the beach.

As we approached the dunes, we started to see a few topless ladies—no big surprise, as we've seen a handful of them on the trip already. But soon, we started to see naked men as well—this was a first! As we were looking around, we noticed everyone was now nude! Then the plenitude of baring-all couples laying on the sand and walking around morphed into a sea of naked men. We had entered the gay section of the beach and it was packed! It's a holiday weekend here and, man, did they all flock here!

Only this small sign to warn us what was ahead! It was a ways away from the shore.

Once we got through the hard-to-forget show, the ever-changing, five kilometers of empty sand dunes awaited us and were really cool. They were just missing the camels, for it resembled a miniature Sahara Desert.

Kate not even phased by the sand shower covering her!
